This gently curved lacy wrap is perfect for breezy evenings and starry nights. Worked in sock weight yarn on #6 needles with a very unique cast on, it has great drape. Secure it using the eyelet opening or your favorite shawl pin.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn the simplest, easiest weaving technique around, made famous by Bex and Rose's mom, Carol Leigh Brack-Kaiser.
Students will learn the fundamentals of continuous strand weaving on a small triangle, square or rectangle loom and take home a finished piece (or more!). Choose your shape and your yarn and be weaving in minutes. There's no warp to measure and thread with the continuous strand method so you can start weaving and seeing results right away.
The possibilities are unlimited!
Learn your choice of sock methods; two socks at once magic loop technique, two circulars, or double points. We will schedule optional follow up sessions for different stages of the socks.
Bex Oliger (internationally recognized indigo dye expert) is offering her special seminar on indigo dyeing. She'll demonstrate four different techniques for indigo dyeing, including a woad, Saxon blue (with sulfuric acid), indigo for protein fibers (wool or silk), and indigo for cellulose fibers.
No previous experience necessary. Wear old clothes and expect them to go home with newly added artistic blue smears and blubs. Incidental indigo tattoos are a free bonus.
Course includes a detailed set of recipes that explain the chemistry and culture of these ancient natural dyes.
Fee: $25

Let Bex do the cooking for you! She'll spend about three days carefully brewing and balancing her indigo potions and you get to use them without all the fuss. The cost? A mere $5 to dip 3 skeins or 2 t-shirts. There will be four vats of indigo (three of various protein formulations and one cellulose) going, including the very rare Saxon Blue. Very few people in the world can make the saxon blue, and we are fortunate that Bex is one of them.
Some tie dyeing equipment will be available, but call ahead for extra materials needed if you want to tie dye.
