The Fair Isle technique has been around for centuries. Traditionally, this two handed, two color technique involves knitting in the round and using charted patterns, while carrying a different color of yarn in each hand. Basic two-color Fair Isle requires no new techniques beyond the basic knit stitch. Knitters who are comfortable with both English style and Continental style knitting can carry one color with their right hand and one with their left. We will work on a fair isle hat in-class, and discuss how to apply the technique to socks and other projects. | ||
