Learn how to make your own yarn using a spinning wheel. No prior experience is necessary. We'll teach you the basics and beyond, (including plying) depending on how comfortable you feel. We will also have a variety of wheels for you to try (along with a monthly rental option if you fall in love with one). At the end of the class you will have a sample of your own handspun yarn to take home.

The double-knitting technique is deceptively simple, and will allow you to created a reversible, negative image piece (see sample in-shop). By working both sides of the item at once, you create a double-thick piece that is great for color work, as well as bags that won't require lining. This is the technique you'll need to work Bex's amazing Double-Knit Tam pattern!

Start: 2:00 pm
End: 4:00 pm

Do you have a store-bought sweater that fits you perfectly? Do you have a hand-knitting pattern that you would like to alter? In this class we will help you to reverse-engineer a sweater pattern to the exact specifications you need.

Bring in the sweater you want to re-create or pattern to alter, and we will help you take measurements and create a custom pattern so you can make your favorite sweater as many times as you like!

Techniques covered include: short-row shaping, designing for body shape, proper measuring and translating stitch patterns.

The Fair Isle technique has been around for centuries. Traditionally, this two handed, two color technique involves knitting in the round and using charted patterns, while carrying a different color of yarn in each hand. Basic two-color Fair Isle requires no new techniques beyond the basic knit stitch. Knitters who are comfortable with both English style and Continental style knitting can carry one color with their right hand and one with their left.

We will work on a fair isle hat in-class, and discuss how to apply the technique to socks and other projects.
